Air Wick Black Edition Colour Change Candle
I don't often feature candles on this blog but since these are available primarily in supermarkets they definitely count as a Grocery Gem! I was given two of these Air Wick Black Edition Mulled Wine & Cinnamon Apple candles as a gift and I genuinely can't believe how brilliant they are. Granted I'm a complete sucker for anything with the words "colour changing" but my forays into colour changing candles have always been disappointing, until now.
The candle comes in a black glass jar which is a decent size. The front of the jar has a white design when the candle is unlit, but once the candle is lit this becomes a "window" into the rainbow colour changing effect. I can't say I have ever bought Air Wick products before and I usually don't like the whole "this looks like a tasteful ornament" idea they promote. However this candle genuinely looks good on display.
The smell, Mulled Wine & Cinnamon Apple, is very nice too. I would ignore the words "mulled wine", it just smells of cinnamon and apple, which pretty much sums up mulling spices anyway. It doesn't smell too strong, I have synthetic overpowering fragrances, it just leaves a subtle sweet fragrance.
I just love the colour changing effect, it goes through so many more colours then my first photo suggests. There are the main yellow, orange, red, blue, green and purple, but then all the colours inbetween too like turquoise. If you don't like this design/scent then there are other versions available too such as the Golden Winter Woods, which has more of a geometric design, and for chocolate lovers there is a Cocoa Truffle which has a plain white design.
They are all available in Asda for £3.00 each and have a burn time of up to 30 hours. A big thank you to Michael who gave me these candles, I will definitely be buying some more!
Have you tried these colour changing candles before?
Hey there, glad you like the candles. They also come in purple blackberry fig as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks again Mike, I love them. I'll look out for the purple ones too :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow i love this review! I am slightly obsessed with plug ins and candles and home fragrance things in general - I just love them! I had a quick look and noticed this one too http://groceries.asda.com/asda-estore/search/searchcontainer.jsp?trailSize=1&searchString=touch+of+colour&domainName=Products&headerVersion=v1&_requestid=363987
ReplyDeleteI thought I'd add this as it has a coconut fragrance and I know you (Katherine) are nutty for coconut! hehehe
Thanks Joanne! Brilliant find too about the coconut fragranced one, you're right I am nutty for coconut! I especially love coconut when it's combined with vanilla so I can feel a trip to Asda tomorrow to get some of those!
ReplyDeleteThanks again,
Katherine :)
Ah damn my link hasn't worked :( Sorry peeps
ReplyDeleteIt's called Airwick colours of nature and it's a white one with rainbow colours in the fragrance 'White Vanilla Bean' (coconut listed in the fragrance description) on the Asda website
Joanne, you can write it like this <a href="LINK">LINK TEXT</a>.
DeleteIn this case:
LINK would be: http://groceries.asda.com/asda-estore/search/searchcontainer.jsp?trailSize=1&searchString=touch+of+colour&domainName=Products&headerVersion=v1&_requestid=363987
and LINK TEXT would be: this one
So if you write <a href="http://groceries.asda.com/asda-estore/search/searchcontainer.jsp?trailSize=1&searchString=touch+of+colour&domainName=Products&headerVersion=v1&_requestid=363987">this one</a> in the comment box, then you'll see this one in the published comment. You can always hit the preview button to check if it looks right before publishing the comment.

A bit more on topic, I've always wanted to try this. I've tried quite a few other Air Wick products and really loved how they smell.
Thanks Ana, that is extremely useful info! Katherine :)
DeleteHi Joanne, it's nothing you have done, for some reason links don't show up within comments in certain browsers. It shows up as a link perfectly fine on my husbands phone but not on my pc! I'm going to add your link to the main review so thanks again x
ReplyDeleteThese look so cool! I usually buy one of the christmas edition air wick candles every year so I'll keep my eye out for these!
ReplyDeleteThey are still half price in most supermarkets :)
Delete£3 is a great price too for something like this! I was surprised by the price, expecting to pay £5 at the very least!
ReplyDeleteIn Sainsbury's they have them on half price offer for £3.49 with the original price being £6.99! I'm going to stock up at Asda!
