M&S Mediterranean Black & Green Olive Tortillas
These Mediterranean Black & Green olive Tortillas from Marks & Spencer offer an interesting twist on the usual flavours of corn tortilla snacks. They are part of quite a large range of new and traditional tortilla flavours offered by M&S called "Hey ho to Mexico", flavours include; Chorizo & Red Pepper, JalapeƱo, and Nacho Cheese.
There are lots of visible olive pieces in each corn tortilla, giving these a very distinctive appearance. The generous distribution of olives makes a full impact on the flavour. They really do give a burst of olive flavour with each bite.
Despite this olive flavour, there is no other seasoning on the tortillas which actually made them taste a little bit plain. This is reflected in the extremely short list of ingredients: Cornflour, Sunflower Oil, Dried Black Olive Pieces, Dried Green Olive Pieces. That's it, no salt or anything. I like the fact that M&S have kept these so simple, as they have a more authentic feel. They reminded me of handmade tortillas chips I've had before. As such they are better used as a base for dips and salsas, rather than eating on their own.
