Asda have some lovely new flavours in their Chosen By You oaty biscuits range. These Dunkers come in three varieties, Oat & Honey, Fruit, or Chocolate. I've been trying to find the Chocolate ones to review but they always seem to be sold out whenever I try. Instead I bought a pack of the Oat & Honey, a complete bargain at only 60p for 5 large oat cookies.

The texture is very good, with a soft and slightly chewy consistency. They're not too sweet and are packed full of oats which makes them very filling. They're just a big oaty biscuit, like a much larger and softer Hob Nob. I actually made a cup of tea for the first time in weeks (I can't drink tea in hot weather), just to test out the dunkability, and they passed with flying colours. The rectangular shape is the perfect size for dunking and there were absolutely no crumbling incidents.

Such a good idea! I would of thought someone might of come up with a dunkable biscuit sooner. They look huge too, about 5 biscuits stuck together! I will be on the lookout for the chocolate ones too!

It's a really simple but brilliant idea isn't it. I can imagine we'll be seeing a lot more rectangular shaped dunkable biscuits from now on!

I'm quite partial to a decent oaty biscuit, but there's strict rules on what can and can't be dunked! Usually up for dunking is a digestive - there's quite a risk vs reward on that one ;)

DeleteHmm.. my local Asda (Frome) have been doing these for around two years now. But only the Oat & Honey ones.. The article you link to is from June 2012, which bears out my experience. How odd.

M&S have been doing dunkable choc chip cookie fingers for ages! They're quite hard so need a good dunk but are delish!
ReplyDeleteM&S Cookies can be very hard in texture! I was surprised by this when I reviewed their Neopolitan Cookies earlier this year. They're so hard that they can only be eaten by dunking them in a hot drink! I prefer a softer texture for a dunker :)
