The new Hartley's What's Your Flavour Jelly? is a jelly mix that can be flavoured using your favourite drink. The possible drink suggestions given on the back are squash, fruit juice, cordial or fizzy drink - so it's really up to you! Each pack contains two separate sachets so you can give different drinks a try too.
As soon as I bought the Hartley's What's Your Flavour Jelly I knew that I wanted to use Lipton Peach Ice Tea as the flavouring. It's one of my favourite drinks (especially in the summer) and I just thought it would be great as a jelly flavour! Also I've tried cola and lemonade flavoured jellies before so a peach tea flavour just seemed a bit different too.
I'll have to update here with a photo of the finished jelly as I forgot to take one (too busy eating it!) but the jelly stayed the same colour as you can see above. The jelly itself is very simple to make, you simply add 300ml of boiling water to the jelly crystals and then add 200ml of your chosen drink. I was a bit worried that the Lipton Peach Ice Tea might not be a strong enough flavour for the jelly but it was actually fine. The jelly had a lovely sweet peach flavour, just like the Lipton Peach Ice Tea drink, and we all enjoyed the results as a jelly. I'll definitely be making this jelly again but next time using the new Lipton Raspberry Ice Tea as the flavour.

Made this with Fanta fruit twist on the weekend and all I can say is that people have missed out on a flavour sensation for too long! Going to use the other half for a cider, not sure how it will turn out.
ReplyDeleteIrn Bru flavoured jelly is gonna be amazing!
ReplyDeleteI have some of these packs to make with my little ones. I can't wait to try now!
ReplyDeletecant you just use unflavoured gelatin. much cheaper
ReplyDeleteOf course gelatin can be used to make any flavour of jelly you want.
DeleteHowever, this product is very different as it doesn't contain gelatin, making it vegetarian friendly. Also the selling point of these is just how easy it is to make, just add water/drink and pop it in the fridge. No need for melting gelatin etc.
I'm not saying it's better than gelatin at all, but it's just different.
if you use squash, do you know if it needs to be diluted first or just pure? i really want to try these!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't specify on the packaging but I would assume it means to make the squash first (as a drink with water) then add it to the jelly. Although I would probably add less water than usual to make the flavour stronger!
DeleteI have recently subscribed to the Frozen Cakes and Sweets magazine mini series and I'm thinking of using this with Asda raspberry gel flavouring and blue food colouring to make the jelly dessert since it is cheaper than buying Berry Blue Jell-O online.
ReplyDeleteHi April, I'm sure you would be able to make a blue coloured jelly using this mix. It's a great idea and certainly cheaper than the imports.
DeleteI think you might still need a flavoured drink of some kind (preferably clear) and then use the blue food colouring - hopefully that should work.
These have finally turned up at my local Asda. They were instantly reduced to 50p so have stocked up for Winter! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! x
DeleteMy local b&m's has them for 10p a pack... if you have one nearby give them a try (but not from mine, I've nabbed em all lol)
ReplyDeleteAmazing to do with the kids on a rainy day along with a classic Disney film. Can't wait for it to rain again.
