Review: Kettle Chips Crispy Bacon & Maple Syrup

I've been looking forward to trying this new flavour from Kettle Chips - it just seems like the perfect flavour combination for their brand of crunchy, hand cooked crisps.

Let me get straight to the point and say that these crisps are absolutely delicious - I almost inhaled the whole bag in one sitting, they were that tasty. The flavours are initially quite smokey and salty but with a delicious sweetness coming through strongly with each bite. If you're a regular reader of my blog then you'll know I love these types of sweet and salty combination. However, it has to be said that there isn't really a maple syrup flavour to the sweetness, it doesn't have that distinctive maple flavour. Also the bacon is surprisingly lacking too, it's there in the smokey flavour, but without any real meatiness to it. Despite those last two points, I still really enjoyed the overall flavour here, which is why I still gave them a high score overall.

Also, look out for the new Kettle Chip's Chef Signature Range which is now available in Waitrose and Budgens (and should be in other supermarkets soon). The new flavours include: Gressingham Duck, Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese & Cox Apple Chutney, and Maldon Sea Salt Flakes.

I'll definitely be looking out for the Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese & Cox Apple Chutney flavour!

  1. Black pepper kettle crisps are my favourite but I will grab a bag of these if I see them. The duck flavour sounds interesting too.

  2. the trial degustabox I got had bacon and maple popcorn in it, which I didn't eat for ages. it was ok when I ate it but I don't think I'd get it again, it had an odd after taste.
