Here's a closer look and review of the products inside this months Degustabox:

Portlebay Popcorn: Award winning, artisan popcorn in two delicious flavours; Sweet & Salty and their brand new Cappuccino. Portlebay Popcorn is popped by hand in Devon using a splash of rapeseed oil, unrefined raw cane sugar and all natural seasonings.

I've never tried Portlebay Popcorn before but I was pleased to find that the Sweet & Salty variety has the perfect balance of sweet flavour and salty edge. The Cappuccino popcorn is just such a wow flavour. It has a unique combination of sweet coffee flavour with a little chocolate and an unexpected hint of salt that is just delicious. I really loved this one and I'll be tracking down more from this range.

More Drinks: These drinks are great for anyone who doesn't like popping multivitamin pills. The More Drinks are made with spring water, natural flavours and no added sugar. There were two varieties included in the Degustabox, a Vitamin D Still Mango & Passionfruit and a Multivitamins Sparkling Lemon & Lime. The range is available in selected Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, WHSmith and Ocado.

I really liked the Still Mango & Passionfruit with it's sweet and refreshing tropical flavour. It's not just a hint of flavour, this tastes somewhere between a flavoured water and a squash. I can imagine buying these tasty drinks in the future if I feel like I need a vitamin boost.

UP&GO: This popular breakfast drink brand from Australia was launched in the UK earlier this year with the cheeky advertising campaign tagline 'Aussies Suck'. I received two flavours in the Degustabox; Vanilla & Chocolate. Each drink has a lovely sweet flavour and is packed with fibre, protein and calcium. It's basically a bowl of cereal in a drink.

Mallow And Marsh Raspberry Marshmallows: This is a box of three large 100% natural marshmallows. I have to say right from the start that I absolutely loved the sweet and fruity raspberry flavour here. I've tried a few brands of gourmet marshmallows but these delights from Mallow & Marsh (love that name!) are easily the best. Thank you Degustabox for introducing me to these!

The above photo shows just one of these marshmallows cut in half. Just look how fluffy and soft but also a little gooey they are! The texture is just divine but the fruity raspberry flavour is the real winner for me. I love raspberry as a flavour and it's used to perfection here.

Bassetts Jelly Babies Berry Mix: A pack of Bassetts Jelly Babies which features their most popular flavours of Blackcurrant, Raspberry and Strawberry. The 190g bag contains only natural colours and flavourings.

As much as I like the citrus flavoured jelly babies it's lovely to have a selection of only the sweeter berry flavours.

Maynards Wine Gums: Maynards is bringing back it's Red n' Black assortment as a permanent addition to it's range. Each pack features the popular wine gum flavours of Blackcurrant and Strawberry. I have to admit I'm not a fan of wine gums so I passed these along to a family friend who said she really enjoyed the simpler mix of flavours.

Complete Energy Bites: These are low calorie chocolates that are infused with caffeine. One of these Complete Energy Bites is equal to one large premium coffee. They provide an instant boost that can improve alertness, endurance and physical energy.

Each box  has six chocolate bites wrapped in their own little plastic tubs. They're recommended to be taken five minutes before physical exercise (or driving, studying or partying!) so I've given these to Mr. Grocery Gems who does a lot of 10k running. Each Energy bite has 44 calories and a whopping 135mg of caffeine.

Miracle Noodle: A range of low calorie, soy free, gluten free, vegan and non gmo, Shirataki noodles and rice. Shirataki noodle are made from konjac flour and are very low in calories and carbohydrates. This 200g pack of Miracle Noodles only contains 10 calories. I'm not really sure how I'm going to use these so if you have any recipe suggestions let me know in the comments - thanks!

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups: It probably goes without saying that I'm already a fan of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups so I was delighted to find two packs in this months Degustabox.

Each pack has 3 delicious Reese's Peanut Butter - sweet peanut butter filling encased in milk chocolate.

Sweet Sally Tea: This 'Winter Spice' black tea drink is flavoured with a hint of citrus and spice. It's a blend of organic Ceylon black tea, with Spanish oranges, Sicilian lemons, a touch of sugar and also cinnamon and cloves. I love iced teas and flavoured teas in general so I was really excited to try this one. The flavours are really well balanced and the black tea base is light and very refreshing. The citrus flavours add a little zesty freshness and sweetness. The cinnamon and cloves are both evident and each sip is deliciously spiced without being too overpowering. I would happily buy this again!

Overall, I loved the selection in this months Degustabox. There was a wonderful mix of useful items and indulgent confectionery treats. There are so many to mention, but my favourites this month were the Portlebay Popcorn, Sweet Sally Tea, Mallow & Marsh, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Get More vitamin drinks.

  1. Finally! Somebody else shares my love for Mallow & Marsh! They are the bestest most fluffiest delightful Marshmallows I have ever had and yet when I reviewed them, everyone said they were rock solid and generally grim! :( Yay for us! :D x

  2. Shirataki noodles seriously don't have any taste but following steps usually make them taste pretty good! I rinse them properly, then stir fry them with veggies, stir fry sauce (dark soy/ginger kind seems to work the best) and add a tin of tuna - they have a slightly fishy taste so when you put tuna in your shirataki meal there's no way you will notice. They need to be cooked for some time to help the rubbery texture, so I suggest tasting while cooking to check the texture. (On the other hand do not wait for it to get a normal noodle texture, it won't. Konjac is still naturally very gelatine-like so it just won't happen.) Hope this helps!

    1. Oh thanks so much Kaki!

That's so helpful and exactly the type of suggestion I was hoping for. A simple stir fry with tuna and veggies sounds perfect - and thanks for the heads up about the texture too. You're a star!

  3. I LOVE Shiritaki noodles (and pasta and rice, I stock up on the Eat Water & Zero Noodle ones when H&B has a sale). I use the noodles in stir fry's mostly, but the pasta I ue the same way I'd use any pasta, they're pretty bland so need a flavourful sauce - I love tomato. Go with your favourite pasta sauce and any meat and veg you like and enjoy. Like Kaki said the texture can be a bit rubbery and offputting to some people, but I don't mind it and the noodles are prett good when they're stir fried. I think the penne - which looks like the variety you got - would be better suited to a good pasta type dish though.

  4. Everytime I see your reviews you always seem to get more in your boxes than me, usually 2-3 products extra :/ not sure why that is! I didn't get the first drinks or the popcorn in my last box x
