Tesco Finest Roast Norfolk Turkey & Stuffing with Onion Gravy Crisps

Tesco haven't exactly gone for a short and snappy title with these Roast Norfolk Turkey & Stuffing with Onion Gravy Handcooked Crisps. If you've ever wanted a full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings in a bag, then these could be the crisps for you.

Unfortunately these crisps did not quite live up to their abundant name. The texture of the individual crisps was mostly fine, they had a good crunch, similar to brands of handcooked crisps such as Kettle Crisps. However the quality was not maintained for all of the crisps. Some of them were quite overdone, with a dark brown colouring, whilst others were very small in size. The roast turkey flavour is quite tasty but the "stuffing and onion gravy" is non existant. There should have been a lot of layered flavours going on in these crisps but instead they are simply a nice roast turkey crisp. The lack of herby flavouring was disappointing. The overall flavour is quite simple, almost bland, and they don't have that extra special edge.

Also available in the range are Tesco Finest Christmas Stilton, Onion and Thyme Crisps and these Tesco Finest Christmas Pudding and Brandy Butter Crisps. Now who's brave enough to give these a try?

The 150g bags cost £1.39 each but are also available as part of a 3 for £3 offer.

  1. Intriguing flavours, unsure whether a sweet crisp would work seems very odd! Have also found that with other types of tesco own brand/finest crisps that they've been overbaked. Your blog is looking beautifully festive!

    1. They are interesting flavours aren't they? It's a shame about the overbaking!

And thank you! I couldn't wait for December to put up the Christmas blog makeover :)

  2. Blog looking lovely and festive!
Shame the crisps didn't live up to expectations :( I would definitely have picked up the two savoury flavours, not the christmas pud & brandy one however! They may be lovely and I would certainy try something quirky like this if someone was offering one but wouldn't waste my money on something I really don't think I'd like

    1. Thank you so much Joanne!

I'm not a fan of Christmas Pudding so I don't think I'll be trying them, unless curiosity gets the better of me... ;)

  3. I tried the Cristmas pud and brandy butter ones - they are not good. They don't have much flavour actually, but the little flavour they do have is non-descript and bland. The are also really oily which is a bit of turn-off. =/

    1. That's such a shame, but thank you for leaving this comment. It sums up the Turkey flavour aswell really - bland. I was expecting a lot more from a "Tesco Finest" product.

  4. I had the Christmas Pud Crisps and I'm not sure how they resembled Christmas Pudding at all, worst of all it had a vinergary aftertaste that ruined anything the spices were doing to try and emulate that pudding flavour. Shame because I love Christmas Pud personally. They did a Mince Pie Flavour in 2010 that was quite similar and bombed about as hard with us too.

Personally the only way I've found sweetness to work in a crisp is if it is a puff corn snack. I'm yet to find a good sweet baked crisp
