New Walkers Hot Dog With Tomato Ketchup Crisps (Do Us a Flavour Vote)

Walkers have released six new flavours of crisps as part of their "Do Us A Flavour" promotion. The unique flavours were all submitted by members of the public and now it's up to the rest of us to vote for our favourite. The flavours are; Hot Dog with Tomato Ketchup, Pulled Pork in a Sticky BBQ Sauce, Sizzling Steak Fajita, Chip Shop Chicken Curry, Cheesy Beans on Toast, and Ranch Racoon. I've listed them in the order that the flavour appeals to me, from most to least. The last ones, the raccoon flavour, sound horrible to me (sorry to whoever put forward that flavour!). I'd love to know which ones initially stand out to you from those flavours - let me know in the comments below!

The Vote Sarah's Hot Dog with Tomato Ketchup flavour was instantly the one that caught my eye. I just have a thing for ketchup flavoured crisps and I was pleased to find that this new flavour has the same sweet tomato sauce taste. It's joined by a smokey meaty flavour that tastes just like a Frankfurter hot dog. It's meaty without being too overpowering, and the sweet ketchup flavour is not dominated by the hot dog. Overall, I thought this was a great flavour, and it will take some beating for my vote. The pack I bought was slightly larger than normal (40g) so I shared it out with the hubby and kids and they all really enjoyed it too.

Which flavour will you be voting for?

  1. i wanted to try the hot dog ones, but asda didnt have them. i bought the racoon ones - i dont know what they are meant to taste like, but they are tad meaty, with the sour cream taste - nothing amazing.

i'd rather eat hedgehogs crisps that i had when i was a kid! :-)

have you tried the mccoys firepit sizzlers?

    1. Oh yes Hedgehog crisps! There have been some strange flavours here in the UK over the years :)

You've probably convinced me to try the raccoon ones at some point - they don't sound too bad in your description! Overall, I think the flavours all seem better than the ones they had a few years ago with the Cajun Squirrel and Builder's Breakfast - they were really horrible.

I haven't tried the McCoys Firepit Sizzlers yet, they do look interesting though. Would you recommend them?

    2. I remember builder's breakfast and Cajun squirrel, the former of which was the most appealing and I liked it but I didn't fancy the latter at all.

  2. The flavours that appeal to me the most are hot dog and ketchup, BBQ pulled pork and cheesy baked beans on toast. I'm on the fence about the steak fajita one in case it contains chilli and the raccoon one sounds weird.

    1. That's similar to my top three (just based on the names before trying them). I quite like the idea of Steak Fajita but I then I don't mind a bit of chilli!

  3. Chip shop chicken curry doesn't appeal to me because I feared it would be too spicy for my tastes.

    1. I'll be reviewing that flavour soon April and I'll make sure to note how spicy they are. Also whether the Steak Fajita contain chilli.

  4. Thank you for all the reviewing you do. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this site.
Haven't tried any of these flavours, although pulled pork i think sounds the most appetising to me.
Do you know if these meat flavoured crisps are suitable for vegetarians? It just seems a strange concept where they came up with and how they would get racoon flavour...
I would love to see a review on Frootz High fruit buttons, if you ever come across them.
Thanks and take care, your website brings people much more joy than you'd imagine.

    1. Hi there, thank you for such a wonderful comment! It's lovely that you've been enjoying my blog and reviews. It truly means a great deal to me and really keeps me motivated to keep on blogging!

Regarding the meaty flavours. I have four of them here and only one, these Hot Dog Ketchup flavour. are marked as suitable for vegetarians. The Pulled Pork, Sizzling Steak Fajita and Chip Shop Chicken Curry all say NOT suitable for vegetarians on the packaging.

The only non-meaty flavour I have, Cheesy Beans on Toast is fine for vegetarians. I haven't bought the Ranch Raccoon one yet so I'm not sure about that flavour.

Once again, thank you for your kind words, I really do appreciate them. All the best, Katherine :)

    3. Aww thanks so much Jo! And I love your witty comments too, they always make me smile :)

I feel like there has been a lack of coconut goodies to review recently (that's not German at least!). Have you found anything interesting? xx

  5. These sound a lot more interesting that the chip shop chicken curry ones I had. I was very disappointed by the lack of flavour of these. They're definitely not spicy!

    1. It might just be because I'm more inclined towards ketchup flavoured crisps anyway, but I did enjoy these. I don't think the Chip Shop Chicken Curry will be my kind of thing but I've bought a pack anyway.

I tried the Pulled Pork today and they were very disappointing - basically just a barbecue sauce flavour with nothing else.

  6. where can you buy the crisps?

    1. Local newsagents are your best bet for all the flavours.

  7. tried these today.

wasnt particularly impressed. i dont think there was enough hot dog taste, just tasted like ketchup crisps to me.

  8. Got a bag of the Hotdog ones right now, they're horrible... There's a reason Hot Dog is served warm.... Because when you have this taste cold it activates your gag reflex, it does taste like hot dog, but raw hot dog... cold hot dog... if only Walkers provided a "don't bother making any more" button, rather then just a vote button.

Packs of 6 of all flavours are currently in Asda stores for £1 each... Avoid them...

    1. I like the worst flavour button idea! For me it would be the Ranch Raccoon flavour, they geniunely made me feel ill. I haven't even been able to review them yet for this reason.

Personally the Hot Dog is still my overall favourite, I liked their sweet and smokey flavour. I guess we all have different preferences.

The multipacks have at least made it cheaper for anyone wanting to try out all of the flavours. It goes me £3.60p for six measly packets of crisps when I originally bought them individually from my local newsagent!
