Kit Kat Vegan Review

A quick review of the new Kit Kat Vegan which has hit the shelves this week in Sainsbury's. I managed to find a stand full of them in a smaller Sainsbury's Local store after having no luck in the larger stores near me.

Kit Kat has always been one of my favourite chocolate bars and as a kid I would annoy everyone around me by nibbling all the chocolate off the edges first before eating the wafer layers. Thankfully I've outgrown that!

I had high hopes for the Kit Kat Vegan and it mostly delivered a very similar flavour to the original Kit Kat - even my kids found it hard to tell the difference. The vegan chocolate is well done and what it lacks in milky flavour it makes up for in sweetness. I was worried that it would taste like a dark chocolate Kit Kat but the sweet chocolate here is not bitter at all. I do wish the chocolate had a creamier flavour but understandably that is quite hard to acheive in a vegan chocolate.

Overall this is a successful vegan alternative of a classic chocolate bar and that's great news for anyone following a dairy free or vegan diet.

Pepsi Max Lime Review

I've become more of fan of Pepsi Max over the years, especially their Pepsi Max Cherry variety. I also still enjoy the Pepsi Max Ginger (see my Pepsi Max Ginger Review from 2017). I love anything citrus flavoured though, and often add a slice of frozen lemon or lime to my drinks if I'm feeling fancy, so I was especially looking forward to trying the new Pepsi Max Lime.

The initial aroma on opening this Pepsi Max Lime was very promising with a lovely lime scent. However the lime flavour itself was not as strong as I was hoping for. There is a sweet lime flavour that I did enjoy but it's not as boldly citrus as it should be. The citrus flavour should be the main aftertaste but instead it's the sweet Pepsi Max flavour that lingers, as a result the lime flavour itself doesn't dominate. Having said all that, I still found this a really refreshing Pepsi Max flavour and the hint of lime is still enough fo me to buy it again - I might just add a couple of extra lime slices next time though.

I'll have to update when I've tried the Diet Coke Sublime Lime but let me know in the comments if you've tried both and which you prefer!

Review: Curiously Cinnamon Churros Cereal UK

Curiously Cinnamon is one of my family's favourite cereals so I was both excited, and indeed even curious, to try the new Curiously Cinnamon Churros. It's great to get a UK version of the American Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros cereal - and at £2.90 it's definitely cheaper.

The first thing I noticed about the Curiously Cinnamon Churros cereal is just how crunchy they are. To be fair the box does have SUPER CRUNCHY on the front so that should have been a clue. The cinnamon flavour was also slightly disappointing. There is a pleasing enough cinnamon flavour but it's just not as flavourful or sweet as the original Curiously Cinnamon variety. The addition of milk unfortunately made the cinnamon flavour even weaker. Even though it's been awhile since I tried the US version I also remember those as being more cinnamony and sweet.

That's not to say we didn't enjoy these - I would pick up a pack again if they are on special offer. They are enjoyable enough as a snack without milk and I always appreciate a new and fun cereal variety.

Review: Nespresso Cafezinho do Brasil Returns!

Guess who's back? That's right it's me the much missed Nespresso Cafezinho do Brasil! I was so surprised when I saw this on a visit to an actual Nespresso store. The original Cafezinho do Brasil blend was released back in 2016 (see my review Nespresso Cafezinho do Brasil) and I still have family members who talk about how much they miss it.

The packaging and capsules look exactly the same as they did in 2016 - but the big question is do they still taste the same? The Nespresso assistant assured me that the blend had not changed and that the taste is still identical.

The good news is that the 2021 edition of the Nespresso Cafezinho do Brasil does taste just as good as I remember. The flavour is robust and strong but without any bitterness or aftertaste. It tastes smooth and fresh whilst still packing a punch with a unique strength. My husband also agreed that this was as good as the original.

If you were also a fan of the 2016 release of Cafezinho and have tried the latest version then I'd love to know what your thoughts are in the comments below.
