Tayto Causeway Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper Handcooked Crisps

I've reviewed three flavours in the Tayto Handcooked crisp range (see below for links to the other reviews) so far, and today I have the fourth and final flavour; Causeway Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper. These crisps are produced in Northern Ireland, in a factory set in the Tayto Castle grounds. It's a beautiful setting that certainly produces some fantastic potato crisps. The ones I've tried so far from this range have all been of an excellent high quality with delicious flavours. As a fan of black pepper flavoured crisps I couldn't wait to give these a try.

The crisps are all a lovely golden colouring and have that distinctive "handcooked" appearance. They are liberally covered in seasoning, with plenty of visible black pepper granules on each crisp. The overall texture of the crisps is excellent too, very crunchy and quite thick, without any oiliness.

I loved the flavour in these! It's a really intense black pepper that's full of flavour and a little residual heat too. There is also quite a lot of the sea salt seasoning, to give these a delicious salt and pepper balance. I love the fact that Tayto don't hold back on their seasonings, the flavours never disappoint and always live up to their descriptions. A fantastic crisp for any fans of black pepper!

Cadbury Mini Rolls Ice Cream Flavours - Mint Choc & Raspberry Ripple

It seems like only a few days ago I was writing about ice cream inspired chocolates and now here we have ice cream inspired chocolate CAKES. These new Cadbury Mini Rolls come in two varieties; Raspberry Ripple and Mint Choc. They are not particularly exciting flavours on their own, but the unique factor is that the Mini Rolls can be frozen to create a "summer treat"!

The individual packaging on each Mini Roll is really fun and bright. The Mini Rolls are all pictured with sunglasses on, which suddenly gives them a "personality", and are all enjoying the sun in one way or another!

The instructions on the pack suggest freezing the Mini Rolls for at least two hours. I kept mine in the freezer for around that time (slightly longer) and they were perfect - frozen but not too rock hard. The cake part was obviously very cold, but it was surprisingly still quite soft and very easy to eat. The inner creme layer was more frozen and did indeed taste like a delicious ice cream!

The Mint Choc flavour is a chocolate sponge, covered in Cadbury chocolate, with a swirled mint flavoured cream filling. I'm not going to wax lyrical about the tastes and flavours here. The mint is sweet and refreshing but overall this is a very simple combination of flavours that works perfectly as a sweet treat. I also tried one of these that was unfrozen, purely for the interests of this review of course (haha!) and I have to admit I much preferred it frozen.

The Raspberry Ripple is a golden sponge, covered in Cadbury chocolate, with a raspberry flavour creme filling. The flavour itself is very similar to a standard Mini Roll with jam filling... except with raspberry instead of strawberry. Not very exciting, however, once frozen it becomes more like a mini version of an Arctic Roll! The Raspberry flavour in the middle is perfectly suited to the ice cream theme and tastes delicious here.

I've never really been a fan of Cadbury Mini Rolls but since trying them frozen I will definitely be buying them again in the future. Pure genius on Cadbury's part in my opinion. I doubt I would have even bought these if they were simply new mint and raspberry flavours. Too boring. But by making these "ice cream inspired" they are suddenly a much more interesting prospect!

New Müller De Luxe Coconut Dream Corner Yogurt

A few months ago I reviewed a new range of super cute Müller Corner yogurts aimed at kids. This month sees the release of an altogether more grown up and sophisticated version in the Müller de Luxe Corner range. There are four flavours to choose from; After Dinner Mint, Marc de Champagne, Creme Praline, and Coconut Dream. Even though I was very tempted by the Creme Praline, there was no real dilemma over which variety I was going to try first!

The Coconut Dream is described as a "velvety thick coconut yogurt made with whipping cream... an alluring dark chocolate layer... and crispy coconut fancies coated with white chocolate". It's almost as if the people at Müller who develop their new flavours, read my mind, and came up with this flavour just for me. Although judging by the reaction of the lady at the checkout who scanned this, it's pretty much her dream flavour too. Seriously I've never seen anyone react in an "OMG where did you find this!! I've got to buy it as soon as my shift finishes" way before. But as a fellow coconut addict - I totally GET that reaction!

Inside the pot is a coconut flavoured yogurt that sits on a dark chocolate layer, with a serving of white chocolate coconut balls on the side. The yogurt is filled with dessicated coconut, and has an extremely velvety and creamy texture. The scent from the yogurt is just pure sweet coconut, and the rich coconut flavour doesn't disappoint. The dark chocolate layer is essentially a silky sauce that adds an extra indulgent feel to the yogurt. The white chocolate pieces on the side have a crispy cereal type of texture to them and are also flavoured with a very subtle coconut. Overall, this is a very decadent and luxurious yogurt (which is reflected in the calories) and makes a lovely chilled dessert in it's own right.

The Müller De Luxe Yogurts come in twinpacks and at the moment they are on special offer in Sainsbury's for £1.00. I'd like to see these in a multipack format too, with a a variety of the flavours included.

Tayto Mature Irish Cheddar & Sweet Onion Review

After I reviewed the Tayto Irish Roast Beef & Peppercorn Sauce Handcooked crisps the lovely people at family owned business Tayto sent me the three other flavour in the range to try. They are Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper, Causeway Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper and Mature Irish Cheddar & Sweet Onion. I've  reviewed the Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper here, and they were absolutely delicious. I couldn't wait to try the Mature Irish Cheddar & Sweet Onion flavour next, it sounds like crisp perfection to me!

Tayto have been making crisps from the setting of their beautiful castle in the heart of the Northern Irish countryside since 1956. Apparently you can even take a tour around their factory which is set in the Tayto Castle grounds - something I'll be sure to do if I'm ever in Northern Ireland!

The Mature Irish Cheddar & Sweet Onion Handcooked Crisps continued the high standard I've come to expect from Tayto. The crisps are all golden with plenty of visible seasoning, and they have a lovely crunchy texture without being too greasy. The cheese flavour here is just fantastic, it's a full bodied mature cheddar but with a smooth and creamy flavour. The onion is just as strong as the cheese, but with a deliciously sweet flavour to it. It's this sweetness from the onion that makes this combination of flavours absolutely gorgeous. You can't beat a good cheese and onion crisp and these really ARE fantastic.

Phileas Fogg American Style Bubble Chips Cheese & New York Deli Relish

Here we have a fantastic new range of snacks from Phileas Fogg that includes Mexican Style Taco Rolls, Italian Corn Chips, Indonesian Style Crackers, and these American Style Bubble Chips. There are lots of interesting "around the world" inspired flavours to choose from, and I'd expect nothing less from Phileas Fogg! This Cheese & New York Deli Relish flavour received a very good review from Hannah at The Review Addict, and they were clearly my first choice to try.

The American Style Bubble chips have been "twice cooked for a light and satisfying crunch that's perfect for dipping". The flavour "Cheese & New York Deli Relish" is a very interesting but one that sets the bar quite high for my expectations. I've been lucky enough to visit a few delis in New York and I absolutely love everything about them - the food, the atmosphere and the free coffee refills! Happily, the flavour of these crisps lived up to their initial promise. The overall taste is less about the cheese and more about the sweet guerkin taste from the relish. I loved the sweet and tangy notes from the relish against the subtle cheese backdrop. This is my kind of flavour and I would eat these again and again if I could. And yes, they're perfect with dips!
