Review: Müller Light Goodies Yogurt - Lemon Meringue

Müller Light have expanded their range of yogurts with the addition of the Müller Light Goodies range. These are essentially slightly smaller Müller Corner yogurts - with less calories and lower in fat too. There are three varieties in the range: Lemon Meringue, Strawberry, and Smooth Toffee. I'll be reviewing all the flavours but I decided to start with the Lemon Meringue. 

The lemon yogurt is very similar in texture and taste to the standard Müller Light pots - lightly creamy with a refreshing flavour. I enjoyed the mildy zesty and sweet lemon flavour here. The side portion of meringue balls add plenty of extra sweetness and perfectly complimented the lemony yogurt. Even though these are smaller than regular Müller Corner yogurts (107g compared to 135g) I still found them filling and satisfying as a sweet treat.

If you follow a Slimming World diet then I believe these are 2.5 syns each. I can't wait to try the other flavours in the range!

New Müller Corner Bliss - Whipped Greek Style Yogurt with Lemon

Thank you to @amywoodger who spotted this new Müller Bliss range and Tweeted me a photo. So far I've only been able to find it in Asda, where it's available on offer for £1.00 (pack of four yogurts). It's described as a whipped Greek style yogurt and there are three varieties available: Strawberry, Raspberry and Lemon.

I love the gorgeous colour scheme used on the packaging, it's perfect for the Greek theme.

The yogurt section consists of a portion of a very fluffy aerated yogurt that is party made with whipping cream. The whipped texture gives it a very light and airy consistency, but even though it's much lighter, the rich creamy flavour still makes it quite filling. I could definitely taste the whipping cream within the yogurt, and it was much creamier than my usual yogurts. The lemon "fruit sauce" has a thicker texture and a sweet lemony flavour. Eating the two together was reminiscent of a lemon cheesecake, albeit a much softer and lighter version.

Vorrei Italian Online Food Shop - Lemon Virgole

I was recently contacted by Vorrei, a new online Italian food shop, that specialises in lovely Italian food from small scale suppliers and farms. They offered me the chance to try a box from their Calabrian chocolate covered figs and fruit range. I was sent the Lemon Virgole which are candied lemon peel covered in extra dark chocolate. These are made by Colavolpe in Belmonte, Calabria, who have been making fig specialities, chocolates, and more, by hand for three generations, using only local ingredients and traditional recipes.

The box is beautifully packaged with a gorgeously designed outer slipcase and inner box. It definitely looks like a product that has been lovingly put together and would make a visually appealing gift.

I must admit that at first I was a little worried that I had been sent the chocolate coated lemon instead of the figs, since I'm not usually keen on candied peel. However, as ever, I was still eager to try something new, and I've certainly never tried lemon peel that was actually made from the peel of locally grown Calabrian lemons. And I'm glad I put my reservations to one side as these delicacies were completely wonderful. The lemon peel has a zesty citrus flavour without any bitter aftertaste. The dark chocolate is also delicious being intense but still sweet at the same time. The two together, lemon and dark chocolate, make a wonderful combination. As with a most Italian sweet treats, I always find that they taste best with a strong espresso and that was certainly the case here - a sublime match of intensity and sweetness. 

I would love to try the chocolate Fig Bites next, they're made from dried figs that have been flavoured with vanilla and coated in an extra dark chocolate. Take a look at the wonderful range on the Vorrei Italian shop HERE.

Review: Kettle Chips Sea Salt with a Hint of Citrus Lemon

A simple new flavour from Kettle Chips - Sea Salt with a Hint of Citrus Lemon. There is also a Sea Salt with a Hint of Rosemary version available. These are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and are free from artificial ingredients or flavourings.

As soon as I popped open the packaging I could appreciate the lemony aroma of the crisps, it's initially quite a strong, but it marries well with the familiar hand cooked Kettle Chips scent. The flavour however, was exactly as the name of the flavour implies... with a hint of citrus lemon. It's impossible not to appreciate the simplicity of Sea Salted Kettle Chips, they're so crunchy and satisfying. The addition of lemon gives these Sea Salt crisps a background citrus flavour, with a subtle tanginess and sharpness, that is like having a much lighter version of a classic salt & vinegar combination. The seasoning could occasionally be uneven throughout the packet, with some crisps barely having a hint of lemon at all and others being very lemony. I actually preferred the stronger flavoured ones and even though I'd quite like to see this as a straight up Sea Salt & Lemon version, I can appreciate that it's nice to have a lighter seasoned Kettle Chips flavour to tuck into once in a while too!

Müller Light Greek Style Yogurt Luscious Lemon

There are lot of adverts on TV at the moment featuring these yogurts, you know the ones, the women are not only in Greece but are also revealed to be centaurs when the cameras pan out. I didn't pay much attention to these adverts but when I saw the Coconut with a Hint of Vanilla variety featured on The Review Addicts' blog I knew I had to give them a try. They turned out to be deliciously creamy yogurts and the coconut and vanilla flavours were utterly divine. Since I can't eat chocolate and cake all day long, I often turn to yogurts to satiate my sweet tooth and these Müller Light Greek Style yogurts have provided the perfect alternative.

Müller have now added a Luscious Lemon variety to the range. I purchased a four pack of these yogurts in Asda for £1.50 (usual price is £2.19). The pack I bought was also tied to Asda's Tickled Pink campaign, whereby lots of ordinary products have had a pink makeover, which explains the pinker than usual packaging.

I'm not a massive fan of lemon yogurts or desserts in general but these Luscious Lemon are extremely tasty. The smooth and rich yogurt has such a lovely thick texture that it's hard to believe this is a fat free yogurt. The lemon flavour is quite intense and fresh tasting and is well balanced by the sweetness of the yogurt. It doesn't have that awful artificial flavour that some fat free yogurts have.

These yogurts come in four varieties: Luscious Lemon, Coconut with a hint of Vanilla, Honeyed Peach or Morello Cherry. They contain 83 kcals in each 120g pot. I intend on trying all the yogurts in this range as I have thoroughly enjoyed the Coconut with a hint of Vanilla and the Luscious Lemon varieties.
