As I'm sure many of you will know already, Degustabox is a monthly subscription service, with no fixed contract, that sends a large parcel filled with an exciting selection of foodie products. The delivery system is excellent and well organised, they always send a text giving you the exact hour that your parcel will be arriving, and the option to rearrange the delivery for the next day.

This month was slightly different for Degustabox as they had two separate boxes, one with alcoholic drinks and one without. I have the products from both boxes to show you so here's a look at all the new goodies inside the July Degustabox:
ZEO Drinks: I love that Degustabox included all three varieties of ZEO; peach and grapefruit Burst, citrus Crush, and Lime Zest. These drinks have a love them or hate them type of flavour. They certainly make a change from the usual sugary fizzy drinks as these are not very sweet at all. They have a tingly, dry edge and light fruity, almost botanical, flavours that I found quite refreshing.
Portlebay Popcorn: I've been wanting to try the Portlebay Popcorn range for ages so I was delighted to find three different flavours in the Degustabox; the original sweet and salty Kracklecorn, Chilli & Lime, and Crispy Bacon & Maple Syrup. The individual snack sizes are very useful and I can't wait to give them a taste test this weekend!
Dr Oetker Eton Mess & Violet Crystals: These are edible decorations which not only add extra colour to bakes but extra flavour too! I'm especially looking forward to making some Eton Mess inspired cupcakes using the Eton Mess flavoured sprinkles. Degustabox have definitely got something going on with Dr. Oetker because the last two boxes have also included new items from the Dr. Oetker range - great for anyone who's into baking - like me! Anyone else looking forward to GBBO returning next week as much as me?
The Berry Company: I hadn't heard of The Berry Company before but apparently they are one of Europe's fastest growing drinks brands with a range of nutritious fruit juices and fruit flavoured teas. I love trying out new brands and this White Tea with Peach drink sounds like an interesting mix.
Frank Honest Snacking: This Blueberry & Chocolate Snack Bar sounds so good. The range is made with 100% natural ingredients and all their bars are free from gluten, wheat, nut, dairy and refined sugar. They're available in lots of delicious sounding flavours; Orange, Oat & Double Chocolate, Strawberry & Chocolate, and Blueberry & Chocolate.
Maggi So Juicy: I've tried the Maggi range before (see review here and here) and they always give great results for family meals. I like having a few sachets in the cupboard for those days when I'm pushed for time. This So Juicy Oriental Soy & Garlic Chicken is a new flavour to me and comes with a special cooking bag that helps lock in all the juices whilst cooking.
Maggi So Baked: I also received further sachets from the Maggi So Baked range. These are designed to make baked recipes and come in a variety of options. I received Chicken & Leek Potato Bake, Piri Piri Chicken, and Beef & Ale Casserole. These will all come in very useful for me and I'll definitely be using them for midweek meals.
Green & Black's Organic Dark Chocolate Lemon: You can't really go wrong with chocolate and luckily Degustabox always include a sweet treat in their boxes. I've reviewed this Green & Black's chocolate bar before (see here) and it's a lovely combination of tangy lemon flavour with a sweetly rich dark chocolate.
Hornsby's Blueberry Cider: These were included in the alcoholic version of this month's Degustabox. Hornsby's cider bottles were also included in the May Degustabox (in different flavours), and even though I don't drink cider I'm really intrigued by this blueberry flavoured version.
Overall, I was extremely happy with this months Degustabox, it had a good mix of new products, with quite a few new brands to me too (Zeo, Frank, The Berry Company, Portlebay), aswell as the more well established brands (Dr. Oetker, Maggi). If you received the July Degustabox then I'd love to know what you thought of it in the comments below!

I received a Degustabox in order to provide an honest review.
Misread this as "disgustabox". Was terribly confused.
ReplyDeletelol I thought I had made a horrible typo when I read your comment!
DeleteFunnily enough Degustabox originated in Spain, and there "Degusta" means To Try or To Taste, which I think is the perfect name for these boxes :)
I actually love goggling the Spanish boxes to see what they are sending out in their packages!
Blueberry cider, now that sounds interesting!
ReplyDeleteHornsby take their inspiration from the US for their flavours and packaging - it's definitely an intriguing combo!
DeleteI am happy about this box beside 6 of Maggi products. I think it is too many, especially that I am vegeterian lol The plus size is that they have suprising nice, clean ingridients, no rubbish added so probably my boyfriend will use them to create easy prepered meals for himself ;)
ReplyDeleteI have an alco version, shame that I don't get then this white tea :)
I can see what you mean about the Maggi products, especially as you are a vegetarian. They have included more from Maggi in the past too so I would expect to see more. I've actually used up all the ones from the past boxes so I ws quite pleased to see them again! :)
DeleteIt's suprise me that they have a healthy ingridients, usually this kind of stuff is full of chemical adds which we trying to avoid as much as we can. In this week my bf will have a piri piri chicken drumsticks and then leek bake with turkey tights, hope we will like it. In past boxes I saw a lot of quality, clean food so I hope it still will stay like that in next boxes. I am very pleased with this cider, drinks, popcorn and organic chocolate :) I am not sure about Dr Oetker things maybe I will not unpack them till Christmas, then for sure I will bake something lol
DeleteI hope it goes well and that he enjoys the meals! I made the Chicken & Leek bake tonight and it was very tasty, everyone liked it (although I used less milk then the packet asks for). The piri piri chicken is definitely next on my list to try.
DeleteI like baking so the Dr Oetker sprinkles will come in useful at some point. For me it's the cider that I won't be using, but I know quite a few people who would be happy to try it for me!
I forgot to add that I agree with you about the ingredients, I was impressed too. I don't usually buy these packet spice mixes but I think they're fine occasionally.
DeleteSat patiently at home waiting for my box to be delivered! Contents look good
ReplyDeleteIt's arrived, no tea & disappointingly no snack bar, looking forward to trying the cider once chilled
DeleteAh I hope I didn't spoil your surprises!
DeleteI should have mentioned in my post above that if you get the alcholic box then you don't get the Frank bar or Berry Company drink. I guess the Hornsby's have a higher value.
It's interesting that Degustabox are trying out different versions, I hope it'll become an option to choose alcoholic or non-alcoholic boxes in future.
I finally got my box today. this was my first box and had i known they used DPD for their parcels I would have got it delivered to work. As it was i chose to home, and was at work, and their depot is a 40mile round trip (this is why i would have chosen differently had i know).
ReplyDelete1st attempt, allegedly none of my neighbours were in, fair enough. 2nd attempt, said there was no answer, but 2 of my neighbours (i live in purpose built building of 5 flats) confirmed they were in. i couldnt change the delivery address with DPD, it had to be degusta, and despite what DPD said about it not getting sent back to sender, it did, and i had no way of re arranging anything after that 2nd non delivery as the website & phone number gave no option or way to speak to a real person.
After emailign degusta, they called me twice to sort it out and it's now been delivered by parcelforce today.
Im reasonably happy with the box, although the Maggi products are not that useful for a one person household and i could buy them at B&M for prob cheap than the RRP here. I got the alcohol, so no frank bar - but i've tried these as Home bargains had them and i thought they were a cheaper alternative to Nakd bars - they were alright for 15p, but i wouldnt buy them again.
the baking bits are useful and overall, i'm glad i tried the box, but not super excited, especially given the delivery woes! box packaging will be useful for someone at work who is moving though:-)
i would have been disappointed if i paid £12,99 for the box, i paid £6.49 (plus stress). I had only planned to try it out so wont be doing it regularly (which is what i was going to do without the stress.
oh, what i didnt add, which was the key point was there was no reply for the DPD driver because he knocked on the door, not using the buzzers for the flats so of course no one answered as no one lives in the hallway!
