Ritter Sport Kakao Mousse (Chocolate Mousse)
The Ritter Sport Kakao Mousse is one of the newest additions to the permanent range of Ritter Sport 100g bars and I was lucky enough to be sent it for review by Monster Sweets. It's quite a simple bar compared to some of the other Ritter Sports I've tried recently, but the combination of alpine milk chocolate and rich cocoa mousse is still an exciting prospect!
The bar has a slightly different look to the usual Ritter Sport 100g squared bar; it's made up of much larger segments in a 3x3 grid. Ritter Sport explain this on their website as "extra large pieces for real mousse enjoyment". The larger sized pieces allows for even more filling - sounds good to me! The whole bar is covered in the deliciously familiar Ritter Sport milk chocolate. It's a very creamy and sweet chocolate that has rich caramel and malty undertones.
But let's get straight to the heart of it because this bar is all about the intensely chocolatey mousse filling! It's described as an "airy light mousse made with special whipping technology". I have no idea what "special whipping technology" is, but it definitely creates a unique texture! Even though the filling is definitely a mousse, it's also quite dense and thick, meaning it's packed full of chocolate flavour. Combined with the creamy milk chocolate of the outer layers, the rich flavor of the inner mousse filling really shines through, resulting in an extremely satisfying chocolate hit.
Monster Sweets kindly sent me this product for an honest review but all views expressed are my own.

This is next on my list of Ritter bars to try! I like the idea of a creamy mousse bar focused just on chocolate without other ingredients such as nuts etc.
ReplyDeleteGood on Monster Sweets for bringing new Ritter varieties to the UK :)
I'm sure you'd like this one Keve - it's nice to have a simple but delicious mousse bar. Monster Sweets have a really great range! I'm liking the look of all the new Summer Limited Editions too :)
DeleteChecked out Monster Sweets! I agree they have very reasonable postage charges, unlike some I could mention (but wont) which are quite frankly a rip off! Great review and pictures.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm always put off by high postage rates and I know I'm not the only one. There's definitely no rip off postage with Monster Sweets.
DeleteAnd thank you! :)
OMG I have to buy this
ReplyDeletelol it's a good one! :)
DeleteI just bought one of these and I thought I'd add my thoughts here.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, "mousse" wasn't what I thought of when I had a bite of this. The mousse simply didn't taste like mousse - it was too heavy. The chocolate bar tasted more like slightly unbaked chocolate cake, which, of course, can be absolutely delicious. I'm not saying the bar isn't good - it certainly tastes nice, although it's a bit too sweet for my taste. But if you're expecting a lighter-than-air mousse taste and texture, don't go for this one. If you want a really heavy, intense chocolate taste, this is the bar for you.
Thanks for adding your thoughts! I agree with everything you say, it's not a light mousse at all. The filling has a very dense texture - still delicious though :)
