Nākd Rhubarb & Custard Fruit Bar Review

Nākd bars are a very interesting snack; they're made from all natural raw ingredients which are cold pressed rather than baked. They are great for reluctant fruit eaters as each bar provides one of your five a day. I like to eat vegan snacks where I can and these bars are dairy and wheat free, with no added sugar. I've bought their Cocoa Loco, Apple Pie and Banana Bread versions of these bars in the past and enjoyed them, but I was intrigued to try this Rhubarb & Custard version as it seems quite different from the rest of the range.

The bars have quite a soft texture that is not overly sticky or chewy, they are not really a cereal bar but more of a fruit snack. The base ingredients of the Nākd bars range is mostly the same mix of dates, cashews and raisins. It does taste mainly of the dried fruit, but there is a slightly nutty aftertaste too.

I was expecting the rhubarb and custard flavour to be quite subtle, just a slight hint of a taste really. Instead it's a full on flavour, which really does remind me of rhubarb and custard sweets! The rhubarb flavour is unmistakable and there is a strong vanilla undertone. It's a strange flavour combination together with the dried fruits of the bar but it still works as an interesting snack. I think Nākd should add this flavour to their fab range of flavoured raisins, as the combination would work really well.

My favourite of this range is still the Apple Pie bar, but I'm pleased to see new flavours in this range. There is also a new Caffé Mocha bar which I can't wait to try.

    1. The Cocoa Orange is my son's favourite too, it's delicious!

  2. I'm a fan of Nakd bars too so I'll be on the lookout for this and the Caffe Mocha! The Mocha especially sounds interesting. I love the flavoured raisins too...especially the lime ones.

    1. I know, the Caffe Mocha sounds amazing, I would have gone for that one over the Rhubarb & Custard but I couldn't find it!

I love the raisins too, the cola ones are my faves followed closely by the lime :-)

  3. I can't stand Rhubarb so will give this one a miss...but I do really like Nakd bars. The Banana Bread one is lush! I've never seen the raisins though so will look out for those!

    1. I think you would like the Cola Raisins Hannah, they taste like sweets even though they are one of your five a day. Asda sell them.
