There are five different flavours (and types of kiss!) in this Limited Edition numerically themed range from Magnum - full descriptions below. They are all inspired by classic desserts. I picked up a pack of the No. 1 First Kiss which only seems to be available in the Magnum Mini format.
It's described as "a custard flavour ice cream with caramel sauce and caramelised sugar pieces, all coated with a layer of chocolate".
The ice cream and chocolate are delicious in their familiar Magnum flavours. If you've had a classic Magnum before you'll know what these taste like. The milk chocolate is thick and packed full of rich and sweet cocoa flavour. The ice cream has a slightly richer vanilla flavour to it. There are lots of caramelised sugar pieces within the ice cream and occasional swirls of caramel too. The caramelised pieces have a nice crunchy texture that becomes quite chewy and sticky on the teeth. They have a slight burnt flavour to them that is reminiscent of a Crème Brûlée dessert, however they were slightly too bitter for me to enjoy the taste.

The other flavours in this range are:
No. 2 Loving Kiss - Meringue Et Fruits Rouges - Cream flavour ice cream, red fruit sauce, cranberry & meringue pieces, covered in milk chocolate.
No. 3 Passionate Kiss - Tiramisu - Mascarpone ice cream, coffee sauce, chocolate chunks & sponge pieces, covered in milk chocolate.
No. 4 Flirty Kiss - Gateau Aux Chocolate - Chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce, chocolate brownie pieces, covered in milk chocolate.
No. 5 Stolen Kiss - Tarte Aux Pommes - Vanilla ice cream, apple sauce and pastry pieces, covered in a cinnamon dusted white chocolate.
Personally I can't wait to try No.5!

I'm drooling all over the keyboard. I really love Magnum ice cream in general. No. 5 sounds most tempting to me too!
ReplyDeleteI'd also like to try No. 4 and No. 1. I've recently tried the Czech Carte d'Or Crème Brûlée and those crunchy caramel bits on top also have a somewhat burnt taste, but I liked that, thought it worked well with the rest.
Maybe No. 2 as well. Anything with Mascarpone is out of the question though.
I think you would like this Magnum flavour then Ana! It has just that kind of burnt taste, a bit bitter but balanced by the sweetness of the rest.
DeleteI've seen the Meringue one for sale but I'm in two minds about that one. I do however, have a review of No.5 coming up soon!
No.3 for me! :)
ReplyDeleteFunny you mention the bitter taste because I thought the same about the Hagen Daz secret sensations creme brulee flavour - the bitterness ruined it. I'm sure real creme brulee isn't that harsh?
oooh interesting! I'm not usually a fan of Tiramisu but I think it would be lovely in a Magnum. Haven't seen No.3 anywhere for sale yet though.
DeleteI agree, I wouldn't want to have this burnt flavour in a whole tub of ice cream. It would ruin it for me. I think it works ok in these Mini ice creams, because there is not really that much of it!
I would love to try this one! I've tried No. 5, and I do love it! Here's my short review of it: http://london-glutton.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/magnum-no-5-stolen-kiss-tarte-aux-pommes.html
ReplyDeleteHi Faye!
DeleteI did read your great review. It's definitely made me want to try No. 5 even more now! I'll be reviewing it soon and I'll mention your review too.
I have to admit I'm not sure how to leave comments on your blog (I don't get on well with Google+ at all) so apologies for not leaving a comment on it :(
