Review: Müller Light Mysterious Mint Chocolate Smooth Dessert

I first reviewed the Müller light dessert range in May last year. There were three flavour in the initial release; White Chocolate, Milk Chocolate and Toffee. I believe they were joined by this Mint Chocolate version at a later date. Since it's now January there are lots of special offers on products with the words "Light" and "Low Fat", and I picked up the Mysterious Mint Chocolate Smooth dessert for half price (£1.14 for a four pack).

First impressions of this Müller dessert are very good, it has a lovely glossy colour and the consistency is good - not too thin or too thick. The chocolate flavour is very tasty and enough to satisfy a chocolate craving, although it's obviously not very rich tasting, more of a light chocolatey-ness. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the mint flavour was not too overpowering, it's not a refreshing mint taste but more of an added sweetness to the chocolate dessert.

Even though this is promoted as a healthier low fat treat, I'm sure it probably falls foul of the anti-sugar movement. I'm sure many people now realise that low fat does not mean low sugar. This dessert is made with a combination of sugars and sweeteners and contains 12.3g of sugars per pot.

  1. I wonder what the "Mysterious" refers to, it's a bit of a strange name for a dessert. That said they sound pretty nice so I will look out for them!
