Review: Hovis Breakfast Bakes - Malted Crunch

I've reviewed many different breakfast biscuits and I thought it was about time I gave the Hovis Breakfast Bakes a go. Breakfast biscuits have been released by many of the big name cereal and biscuit brands, so it's interesting to see how a brand mainly known for it's bread, can compare. These Hovis Breakfast Bakes were released earlier this year and come in three varieties; Malted Crunch, Oats & Honey, and Milk & Oats. The latter two are fairly standard flavours for breakfast biscuits, so I decided to try the more unique sounding flavour, the Malted Crunch.

The Hovis Breakfast Bakes are make with 100% British wheat, and contain oats, granary flake and wheatgerm. There are five individual packs in each box, each containing four biscuits. The biscuits themselves have a very distinctive look, with the Hovis logo, and quite a brown, granary type appearance. The flavour here is very good, I loved their malty richness, and wholesome wheaty flavour. These feel more substantial and very filling compared to some other breakfast biscuits. I'm still guilty of skipping breakfast most mornings so I'll definitely be buying these Hovis Breakfast Bakes again in future.

  1. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You start the day by quite literally breaking your fast and hence the word 'Breakfast'. So always choose a healthy cereal to start your day.
