Coris Whistle Candy Review (Oyatsu Cafe)

I was recently sent this pack of Coris Whistle Candy from Oyatsu Cafe. This Japanese novelty snack features eight doughnut shaped candies that make a whistling noise, plus a little bonus toy! There are five different flavours available at Oyatsu Cafe: Blue Soda, Cola, Ramune, Grape and these Strawberry ones.

When it said "Whistle Candy" I was merely expecting a sound similar to Chupa Chups Melody Pops. Those kinda suck - literally. Not so with the Coris Whistle Candy. These round candies emit a full on piercing, ear busting high pitch whistle. The whole candy has to be placed in your mouth to get the full effect. Then be prepared because it's LOUD! Think train guard whistle loud.

The candies themselves are chalky based, but with a softer melt than the chalky sweets we get here. The strawberry flavour is here is very fruity in that super sweet way you'll only find in a candy. They're surprisingly moreish and tasty, particularly as they don't have any sherbet or sour edge to them.

These are definitely a unique and fun candy. They're almost certainly the perfect gift for any kids you know. At least for those kids whose parents you really really want to annoy. Guaranteed to drive adults mad. Unless you live in a snack crazy household like mine. In which case the kids will no doubt have to wrestle these out of your hands.

And about that free gift. It was in fact a little hair clip! Even though I'm too old to wear it, I don't care. I. Love. Hello. Kitty.
